Wind, light, and a stone…
A new landscape emerges through the interplay of natural elements and physical expression.
Winds pass through.
Light trembles.
A stone simply is.
Artists who live within the nature of Setouchi
breathe with the landscape through their bodies,
guided by stillness and empty space.
A Cyr Wheel, a ring of steel, draws a gentle circle.
A great flag sways, carried by the wind.
An Aji stone rests upon the stage, wordless in its presence,
gently awakening memories of mountains, sea, and time
within the hearts of those who watch.
Material, space, body, and audience―
all are connected seamlessly,
forming a single landscape.

UKIMO Project
A contemporary circus company founded by artists working within the natural environment of Setouchi.
Integrating wind, light, earth, stone and other natural elements with physical expression, the company creates works that highlight breathing, presence, and ma (pauses) that are inherent in Japanese bodily culture.
Using props such as Cyr wheels, large flags, and Aji stones, they craft theatrical expressions in which body, object, and the landscape merge as one.
The team creates many site-specific works in outdoor settings, historic architecture, and natural environments, offering performances that gently connect audiences with the surrounding landscape.
