This program hosts two presentations that unravel the latest developments in Korea, which has led the Asian street art scene.
1. Woonki Hwang shares his parade-making process and its relation to communities, as well as his insights on the status of the Korean street art scene in Asia.
2. Focusing on B-PAM, an international marketing business led by Busan Cultural Foundation, the presentation highlights Busan’s practice and developments.

Profile

Woonki Hwang
Woonki Hwang is a Professor of Performing Arts at Kangwon National University and CEO of Cultural Production DOMO. He is a leading figure in Korea’s street arts and festival scene, with extensive experience as a festival director and producer. He has served as General Director of major festivals including the Powerful Daegu Festival, Daegu Colorful Festival, Jeju Haebeach Art Festival, and Wonju Dynamic Dancing Carnival. He is currently appointed as General Director of the Gwangju Chungjang Festival (2026–2027). His previous roles also include Production Director of the Pyeongchang 2018 Cultural Olympiad and Director of DMZ Art Festa. With a strong background in both artistic direction and cultural production, his work focuses on large-scale public events, community engagement, and the development of street arts as a dynamic cultural platform.

Choi Sunguk
Since joining the Busan Cultural Foundation in 2017, he has gained extensive field experience closely connected to the local arts ecosystem. He currently works in the Arts Distribution Support Team, where he is in charge of the Busan Street Arts Festival (Street B) and jointly handles operations for the Busan International Performing Arts Market (BPAM). Previously, he managed the youth culture project “CATs Sasang Indie Station,” supporting local indie musicians. Most recently, he directed the “Gamman Creative Cultural Village,” organizing artist residency and cultural planning programs.”
