On a day in the Golden Week holidays, at a refreshing park, I will share an unnerving story with you.
Founded by a Kwansei Gakuin University theater club alumna SaringROCK.
The company’s original play “Love Maniac” has received first prize at the Outenin Performing Arts Festival space×drama in 2007, and another first prize at the 15th OMS Drama Award in 2008.
Other records including Aichi Arts Foundation Drama Award grand prize in 2009, Young Directors Contest 2012 Award for Excellence, and being nominated for the 57th and 62th Kishida Kunio Drama Award show their accumulated achievements.
In February 2019, “100 Years Stray” was selected and presented at Japan Society’s Play Reading program in NY.
“Anxiety and frustration of modern life” underlies their works.
Through a female perspective, the company depicts humorously and realistically the figures who try to find some hope in stressful modern Japanese lives.
Recently, the company is taking their activities beyond theaters and experimenting with a long-run stage at a renovated traditional tenement.
