During her childhood living in Shizuoka City (studying at Andou Elementary School), Un Yamada started traditional folk dance and gymnastics. After being trained in ballet and Butoh, she moved to the States, then to France. Currently she works as a choreographer and a dancer in many countries around the world. In 2015, she received the New Face Award of Minister of Education Award for Fine Arts. In 2016, she visited 23 cities of 11 countries as a cultural ambassador for the Cultural Affairs Agency. Upcoming performance by Co. Yamada Un, “Prelude” will be staged at Setagaya Public Theater from May 24th to 26th.
