BATIK is a dance company founded in 2002 by a dancer and choreographer Ikuyo Kuroda. Their major works include “SIDE-B,” “SHOKU,” “Pendanteve,” and “OTARUDORI.” The newest work “THE RELIGION OF BIRDS” released in 2017 received great reputations in various places. They have performed in 16 countries so far, including occasions such as Dance Umbrella Festival in UK, the Venice Biennale in Italy, Expo Zaragoza in Spain and Singapore International Festival of Arts. As a group of performers with ballet-based technique, they devote themselves fully to “dancing” amongst the various streams of contemporary dance expressions.
